What is the Third Mission?
Alongside teaching and research, the Third Mission encompasses all the activities through which the University places its expertise at the service of society. It is the bridge connecting the Department with the local community, schools, industry, and citizens.
In our Department, this means:

	Enhancing the value of research outcomes, through intellectual property protection, patent management, and the promotion of new spin-offs.
	Sharing knowledge with the community, by communicating research in a clear and accessible way and by developing initiatives that bring schools and citizens closer to the biomedical sciences.
	Promoting lifelong learning, through initiatives supporting scientific education in schools and the continuing professional development of practitioners via ECM-accredited courses.
	Contributing to the advancement of Open Science, by providing the scientific community and society with open infrastructures, databases, and digital resources that foster knowledge sharing, transparency, and research reproducibility.
