Aging signaling pathways
What we do
We are intrigued by why cellular dysfunctions accumulate with time and how such events promote aging and associated diseases such as cancer and neurodegeneration.
We carry out experiments in order to test the hypothesis that the adaptive response to time-intrinsic alterations and environmental contributes to the pathogenic reprogramming of cells. In particular, we investigate the interaction of the aged cellular metabolism and redox balance on genome functions in mouse models and human primary cells using biochemical assays and omics approaches.
Current projects include the validation of mitochondrial dysfunctions in metastatic disease and the identification of epigenetic signatures shared by aging, cognitive decline and heart failure.
