Rules and Documentation for the Internship
Students enrolled in the Bachelor's degree program in Biology of Human and Environmental Health must complete an internship of approximately 8 weeks under the supervision of a Tutor.

Internships can be conducted at a research laboratory of the University of Padova or, based on specific agreements, at private or public companies and organizations.

The internship may begin in the second semester of the third year, unless otherwise authorized. The internship activity awards the student 5 ECTS credits, requiring a total commitment of 125 hours over at least 8 weeks.
Any ADDITIONAL PERIODS MUST BE AGREED upon with the program delegate (Prof. Gaia Codolo) and formalized as "voluntary laboratory attendance", distinct from the one with ECTS credits.

Documentation to Start the Internship

  • Fill out the Training Project and Orientation;
  • Upload in Moodle the “Self-certification of enrolment and transcript of records” available in Uniweb.

The Training Project and Orientation
Complete the Training Project and Orientation orm located on the University Internship page at www.unipd.it/stage in the reserved area for students (note: select "Training Project," enter the VAT number/Tax Code of the chosen organization or company in the appropriate field, and select "Internship," “with credits.” In the case of a university laboratory at the University of Padova, it’s necessary to provide the university's VAT number.
Indicate as university tutor your reference professor for the final thesis.
The training project must be completed BEFORE THE START OF THE INTERNSHIP (at least 15 days in advance).

Once the training project is completed, it is necessary to:

  • Download the Project from the Unipd Careers Platform in PDF/A format;
  • Have the Project digitally signed, in PAdES format, by the hosting organization (for external internships) or by the lab supervisor (for internal internships).
  • Send the Project signed by the company tutor to the Career Service office (stage@unipd.it), which through the E-Sign Platform will also have it signed by the student and the Delegate of the Rector (Prof. Gaia Codolo);
  • Once all signatures are obtained, the document is complete. A day or two before the start of the internship, the project should appear in the "approved" status; if not, it is necessary to contact the Career Service office, to check for possible delays in the start.

The training project must be completed with particular attention to correctly filling out all required fields and must be downloaded in PDF/A format.
Any changes from the initial training project must be communicated in advance by email from the company tutor to stage@unipd.it.

Badge Access Request for the Vallisneri Laboratories
Interns who need access to the facilities of the Department of Biomedical Sciences (Vallisneri Pole Laboratories) must complete the appropriate forms requested from the Department Directorate (direzione.vallisneri@unipd.it).

Documentation for Internship Recognition
At the end of the internship the student must upload the completed and signed certificate of attendance of the intership on Moodle, certifying that he/she is eligible for the relevant CFUs. The student will then be able to register on Uniweb in order to achieve the CFUs related to the internship.

Note: For students who have chosen the Environmental Health curriculum at the Bologna location, the procedure and platforms for activating the internship are the same.

Internship Abroad
It is possible to complete an internship abroad. The Erasmus+ Traineeship  or Ulisse mobility programs provide funding for scholarships. The documentation required at the beginning and end of the internship remains the same.
