Graduate level training in the Biomedical Sciences in Padova
The 3-yr Graduate School in Biomedical Sciences of the University of Padua (Padova) offers a very competitive Ph.D. Program in a spectrum of biomedical disciplines, and offers all the Facilities needed to perform cutting edge research in Biomedicine. The mission of our School is to train top-level individuals able to combine the understanding of biological processes with the application of advanced experimental techniques. Our group of 42 Faculty belongs to the Department of Biomedical Sciences, one of the top-rated Departments in the Country. With 4 Group Leaders ranking within the top 66 Italian Scientists with H indexes above 76, 1 Member of the US National Academy of Sciences and a score of emerging young Faculty we are a group of excellence that compares favorably with the best Institutions worldwide. The School is hosted by the Vallisneri Interdepartmental Complex, a lively environment that is also home to the Departments of Biology and of Molecular Medicine. The scientific community is extremely lively, with a large offer of Seminars and joint programs that include Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Mitochondrial Science, Muscle and Heart Pathophysiology, Exercise Physiology, Electrophysiology, Signal Transduction, Redox Balance, Tissue Engineering and Nanoparticles.
- The Course offers 4 openings per academic year to candidates from the People’s Republic of China, with scholarships provided by the China Scholarship Council (CSC).
- Additional openings are available for candidates from the PRC through the standard selection procedures held by the University of Padova.
Training is based on experimental work under the supervision of the Group Leader of choice. Participation to training Courses, advanced Schools and Conferences is encouraged.
Padova is a very pleasant University town of very old traditions (the University was established in 1222). With about 62,000 students and 200,000 residents Padova offers a very lively atmosphere and many cultural opportunities, and has great traditions for hospitality. Our campus is conveniently located at walking distance from the train station and the city center, and offers a wonderful international community of students and postdocs.
